Leadership

Congregation Led

The structure of our church body recognizes the local congregation as having autonomy to make its own decisions as subject to the Word and Spirit of God.    The congregation in turn entrusts  its spiritual leadership to regularly called pastors/elders (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).  It may also assign  deacons to serve the physical needs of the congregation (Acts 6:1-6; 1 Timothy 3:8-13).

Pastor Matthew Pillman

The Pillman family is born and raised in the Midwest. Matthew is from rural Wisconsin and Julia from rural Minnesota. God has blessed them with three wonderful boys.

At a young age, Matthew was confident that God was calling him to be a crop farmer. This call would transform into the recognition that God had another type of planting in mind—planting the good news of forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ. Matthew served over 4 years at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Pipestone, MN and another year doing a church planting residency at Trinity Church in San Antonio, TX.

Matthew graduated with a diploma in Bible Studies from Free Lutheran Bible College, a BSBA in General Business Management from Thomas Edison University, and a Masters of Divinity from Free Lutheran Seminary.

The Pillman family is humbled to be part of what God is doing in building a church in the Ankeny area.
