Purpose & Values

Our Premise

It is our belief that God gives and shapes life through the local church. These gatherings are the place where Christ is present in the Word and sacrament. We are a people pursuing joyful worship, deep relationship, radical hospitality, and lives transformed by the good news of salvation freely given by faith in our crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ!

Our Purpose

Gathering into the life-giving presence of God

Values

1. Rooted in God’s Word
We firmly stand on God’s inspired and inerrant Word as our final authority and guide in every aspect of life.

2. Shaped by historic Christianity
Our divine worship and patterns of life seek to embody the timeless and life-giving rhythms of historic, Lutheran Christianity.

3. Gathered as family
Our congregation is attuned to the needs of the church family as a whole and that of the families that God places within. Together we seek to practice radical hospitality.

4. Called to live for Christ
We challenge our members to understand God’s unique call for them to love their neighbors in every calling of life.

5. Commissioned to multiply
In order to have the greatest discipleship impact, our model is to multiply Word and sacrament congregations and equip our members to lovingly share the hope of salvation with those around them.

Lutheranism

1. Evangelical
Lutheranism speaks in Biblical terms of Christ and the cross as the place where salvation is won for us and delivered as a free gift of grace through faith.

2. Biblical
Lutheranism trusts and follows the Bible in all areas of life and salvation even when it seems to conflict with our natural reason.

3. Sacramental
Lutheranism affirms the mystery of Christ’s presence and gracious work through physical elements especially in Baptism and Holy Communion. This also impacts the understanding of Christ’s presence and work through the church.

4. Historical
Lutheranism is rooted in the time-tested rhythms, traditions, and teachings of the church so far as they are not in clear contradiction to the Word of God.

5. Vocation
Lutheranism emphasizes the calling and freedom of a believer to love their neighbor without any notion that it contributes to salvation.
